Introduction
A Maharishi Vedic Garden
Maharishi Vedic Gardens combine different aspects of knowledge from the ancient eternal structure of Total Knowledge, the Veda and Vedic Literature: Vastu Vidya, ancient Vedic Architecture; Jyotish, Vedic Astrology; Ayur-Veda, the science of life—the knowledge of life span; and other classical Sanskrit texts relating to the agricultural sciences, such as Vrikshayurveda, the science of plant life, dealing with the development and maintenance of gardens, and Udyanavidya, the knowledge of gardens, parks, and royal gardens.
Maharishi Vedic Gardens are laid out in four cardinal directions—north, south, east, and west—and four intermediary directions—northeast, northwest, southeast, and southwest.
Each of these directions is uniquely associated with one of seven planets, except for the southwest corner, which is associated with the ascending and descending lunar nodes. (Brihat Jagat II, 5)
Each planet, guided by specific values of Natural Law, influences all of nature, determining the quality of plants and their colour, structure, taste, and fragrance.
Maharishi Vedic Organic Gardening is a process of becoming familiar with and upholding the intimate relationships on many levels of Nature’s functioning, creating a wholeness, a fullness, that spreads throughout the universe from any one garden plot.
Maharishi Vedic Gardens highlight and uphold fundamental Laws of Nature in the design of small and large gardens, public parks, and forest gardens. Read More |
